Students completing the role specialization course work in Nurse Educator will develop advanced practice skills in academic and/or clinical education and teaching. The course work in the Nurse Educator program further expands students’ disciplinary knowledge. Courses in the program meet the curricular requirements for students to sit for the National League of Nursing Certified Nurse Educator Certification Examination. Emphasis is on instruction in curriculum, program and course design, development, and evaluation. Focus is also placed on theory and concepts for the development of the nurse educator role. The basics of a sound action plan will be introduced and will include identifying tasks, relevant relationships, and resources. Students will select an area of teaching either as an academic educator or as a clinical educator and work with a preceptor.
