TESOL Certificate

The TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate provides a pathway for students to acquire skills needed for teaching English internationally or teaching English to adult second language learners in the U.S.  The certificate consists of 12 semester hours of four core courses. Students must have at least an overall GPA of 2.75 in the four courses.  All courses must be passed with a C or better. Students must have completed ENGL 1301 - Composition I, ENGL 1302 - Writing and Rhetoric, and core curriculum literature requirements (ENGL 2332, ENGL 2333, ENGL 2334, ENGL 2335, or SPAN 3307, SPAN 3308, SPAN 3309, SPAN 3310) with a C or better.  Students must pursue the certificate in conjunction with their bachelor’s degree; the certificate will be awarded upon completion of their degree.  Students already holding a bachelor’s degree may also pursue a TESOL certificate.
