PHYS 2425 - University Physics I4 sem. hrs. (3:3) TCCNS Equivalent: PHYS 2425 A calculus based introduction to Newtonian physics. Topics include Aristotelian physics and its overthrow, Newton’s laws of motion and gravitation, and the motion of particles, rigid bodies, and fluids. The idea of the universe as a law-governed system will be developed. Laboratory activities provide introduction to empirical methods in science. This course counts toward the natural science component of University Core Curriculum. Prerequisite: or placement beyond MATH 2413. SMTE 0095 is a co-requisite for this course. Documented completion of this safety training is required early in the semester for continued participation in this course. Safety training given during a laboratory meeting early in the semester is required for continued participation in this course.
